Dad's birthday weekend!

Okay, so my dad is really fun. I know most of you know this already, but he just loves to spend time with us doing fun and creative things. His latest kick? Geocaching. Have you heard of it? Well, he just got an iPhone (I know, right?!), so he has the perfect GPS set-up for finding these little hide-and-seek items around town. On his fun birthday weekend, we began by having waffles and omelets at Jon and Chelsea's apartment in SA. They were the perfect hosts, and those waffles were so tasty! They have two sugargliders. Have you heard of them? They are little flying-squirrel-like critters that are just so much fun...most of the time. They went with us all over SA and Fredericksburg during the weekend. This one slept in the crook of Mom's arm after we tired it out over breakfast. How did we tire the little sugarglider out? Well, we let it fly from person to person...Eric was having so much fun, that he didn't notice the menacing gleam in the sugarglider's eye...it was headed straight for his waffle! It certainly has good aim. Eric wasn't impressed, poor thing...
Chelsea entertained us later with dog tricks. Her dog, Freebie, is so smart - and looked so cute in its little tutu!
Eric and the sugarglider made up, and Eric even let her hang out with him.
Next stop in SA....GEOCACHING! Dad plugged in some coordinates to find our first cache close to Jon and Chelsea's apartments.
Do you see what I'm pulling out of the crevice in the tree? That's the cache!

Here we are holding up our first find. :) On to cache #2. Jenny found this one - a camo-duct-taped water bottle with all sorts of little goodies inside. We filled out the log, "Rich family strikes again," and were on our way.
Cache #3 was really close to their apartments, and under the metal thing on this light post. Good job, Pops!
Our next stop was a no-find, but we had fun anyway. Here's my crazy dad for ya!
After we were tired of geocaching, we went to Chick-Fil-A to eat lunch. Eric's Aunt Pam and Uncle Tim met us there! It was really good to see them, although I don't have any pictures of it. :(
We had to head on out so we could make it to Fredericksburg in time for the show at the Rockbox Theater. Every weekend, a group of really fun, middle-aged folks puts on a variety show. We had a good time.
No trip to Kerrville is complete without going to Mamacita's for Sunday lunch! It seems like we ate all weekend. Ths picture was Dad's idea. I guess we're all crazy because we went along with it without blinking an eye!
Either Dad's head got bigger or the sombrero used at Mamacita's shrunk. The perfect ending to this perfect weekend was singing (really loudly) "Happy Birthday" to the Pops and enjoying sopapillas at Mamacita's. Mmmm...
Happy Birthday, Pops! Enjoy living your 60th year now. Next year's birthday will have to top this one!
