In 2009, one of Eric and my New Year's Resolutions was to have people over for Sunday lunch every Sunday that we were in town. It was such a fun year to share our small apartment and new cooking skills (most meals were try-outs) with guests. We had some great experiences and some really funny, embarrassing experiences (think: making a breakfast pizza with pre-made crust that had holes in it...the egg mixture went straight through...onto the pan...and straight through the pan that had holes in it, too...onto the counter and down the cabinets). But we had such a wonderful time sharing our lives with our friends and acquaintances.

Just before Christmas, we had a family over whom we have become close to this year in our new class at church. Over Halloween, I dressed as a minor and Christy dressed as a miner (Chilean, that is, with the rescue-tube-thingy and everything!). Well, Eric wanted to be a Ghanaian soccer fan with his new vuvuzela. Mike (Christy's husband) showed up as a soccer player! We've all been buddies ever since. It was such an honor to have them over.
I enjoy putting the kids to WORK when we have families over. We made my childhood favorite, stromboli. The LeStarge kids loved making our meal. The girls got to the point where they wouldn't let me help at all! They took over the kitchen.

After Christmas, when we were all back at church, Christy gave us this sweet bag of goodies from the kids, thanking us for sharing our "pretty apartment" with them. So precious.

The boys needed a break from all the cooking.

The final product! Mmmm...
